The Minister of State for Privatization and Investment, Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi (SPA Local Content and Special Duties), today hosted the leadership of Balaji Agro Industries at her office for discussions aimed at strengthening investment in Uganda’s agriculture sector through commercial farming, value addition, and job creation.
The meeting underscored Government’s commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment that promotes local content, enhances productivity, and supports Uganda’s industrialization agenda.
Balaji Agro Industries is one of the country’s leading agro-industrial investors, operating a 2,880-acre commercial farm in Butalangwa, Nakaseke District. The company has invested in modern agricultural production and value addition, including a cold-pressed avocado oil processing facility that adds value to locally grown produce while supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
The company currently employs more than 200 Ugandans across its various production units, contributing to household incomes, skills development, and rural economic transformation. Its continued investment demonstrates the important role of private sector participation in expanding commercial agriculture and creating employment opportunities for Ugandans.

Hon. Mukalazi commended Balaji Agro Industries for its contribution to Uganda’s agricultural transformation and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting investors whose operations promote local content, value addition, technology transfer, and inclusive economic growth.
She emphasized that partnerships between Government and the private sector remain critical to unlocking Uganda’s agricultural potential, attracting sustainable investments, and creating decent jobs for citizens.
The engagement reflects the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to work closely with investors in advancing Uganda’s competitiveness as a preferred investment destination while ensuring that investment projects generate meaningful benefits for local communities and the national economy.
