Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi Commends Seyani Steel Ltd for Advancing Value Addition, Job Creation and Local Content

Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (Privatisation and Investment) and Special Presidential Assistant on Local Content and Special Duties, has commended Seyani Steel Ltd for its significant contribution to Uganda’s industrialization agenda through value addition, job creation, and the promotion of local content.

During her visit to the company, Hon. Mukalazi noted that investments in manufacturing and value addition are critical to transforming Uganda’s economy, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.

Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (Privatisation and Investment), together with Mr. Manish Seyani, Director of Seyani Steel Ltd, and other officials, inspect machinery during a tour of the company’s industrial facilities.

She applauded Seyani Steel Ltd for its ongoing investment, which is expected to create over 1,000 direct jobs and many more indirect employment opportunities across various sectors of the economy. The company is also set to be officially launched in the coming months, marking another important milestone in Uganda’s industrial development journey.

“Value addition remains one of the key pillars of Uganda’s economic transformation. By processing raw materials into finished products, industries such as Seyani Steel Ltd not only create jobs but also increase the value of our resources, strengthen local supply chains, and contribute to sustainable economic growth,” Hon. Mukalazi said.

She emphasized that the Government of Uganda, under the leadership of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, continues to prioritize industrialization, investment promotion, and local content development as essential drivers of wealth creation and national development.

Hon. Mukalazi further highlighted the importance of ensuring that Ugandans benefit from major investments through employment, skills development, technology transfer, and participation in supply and service chains.

The State House Local Content Unit remains committed to monitoring and promoting compliance with Uganda’s local content policies, regulations, and guidelines to ensure that investments contribute meaningfully to the country’s social and economic development.
