Ten years ago, Kapeeka’s quiet farmlands carried an ambitious vision that would later redefine rural industrialization in Uganda. Today, the Liao Shen / Kapeeka Industrial Park stands as a flagship of that vision—an industrial hub that has transformed Namunkekera and surrounding communities into engines of production and opportunity

Guided by strategic leadership and public–private collaboration, and strongly championed by Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh), the park has grown from concept to reality. It now hosts 35 fully operational factories across steel, construction materials, agro-processing, textiles, electronics, and consumer goods, employing over 20,000 Ugandans directly .
The 10-year anniversary celebrations were further distinguished by the presence of SPA Hajjat. Aminah Mukalazi Kyanjo, who joined investors, government officials, and community leaders at the park to mark the milestone. Her participation underscored continued government support for industrialization, local content development, and inclusive economic growth anchored in rural transformation.

Beyond factories, the park has driven major infrastructure upgrades—roads, power, planned industrial layouts—and fostered skills transfer through close collaboration between Ugandan and Chinese technical teams. As it enters its next decade, Liao Shen / Kapeeka Industrial Park stands as a living testament to how vision, leadership, and community-centered investment can reshape Uganda’s economic future
Through the development of industrial parks, Uganda has made significant strides in economic transformation and is well positioned to achieve even greater gains, securing a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come.
