President Museveni meets FAO team on food security, agriculture transformation

HE. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday, Monday, July 21, held high-level discussions with H.E. Qu Dongyu, the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, at State House, Entebbe.

Welcoming the FAO chief, President Museveni reaffirmed Uganda’s unwavering commitment to agricultural development as a key driver of socio-economic transformation. He emphasized the critical role FAO plays in supporting Uganda’s efforts to modernize its agri-food systems.

“The transformation of agriculture remains our priority because it directly impacts income security, food security, nutrition, and the well-being of our people,” HE. President Museveni told the delegation.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in vital areas including sustainable agriculture, food security, nutrition, and hygiene — sectors Museveni described as pillars for Uganda’s broader development agenda.

President Museveni assured H.E. Qu Dongyu of his government’s full support in ensuring FAO’s work in Uganda proceeds smoothly, particularly in relation to programs aligned with the Parish Development Model (PDM) and wealth creation initiatives targeting rural communities.
