We are a Unit established by H.E. Gen (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda,
under the authority granted by Article 99 of the Constitution.
Our core mandate is to monitor and enforce compliance with Uganda’s local content policies and regulations,
ensuring that Ugandan citizens and businesses actively benefit from national projects and economic activities.
We serve with integrity, accountability, and a vision to empower Ugandans through strategic local participation.
Enforce adherence to the Local Content Policies and Regulations.
Implement training programs to upskill the local workforce.
Promote knowledge transfer through partnerships with multinational companies.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
Continuously collaborate with government agencies, industry players, and local communities to strengthen local content frameworks.
Advocate for policies that promote local participation in economic activities.
Enhance public awareness and stakeholder engagement through education and information-sharing.
At the Local Content Unit, our mission is rooted in the belief that Uganda’s wealth must work for Ugandans.
We are committed to ensuring that our people, enterprises, and industries are empowered to actively participate in and benefit from the country’s economic development.
We commit to promoting the use of local goods, services, skills, and technologies across key sectors, especially in extractives, infrastructure, and industrial projects.
By strengthening local capacity, we aim to reduce import dependence, create sustainable jobs, and enhance value retention within our borders.
Working closely with investors, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders, we are building frameworks that uphold transparency, enforce compliance, and provide opportunity for inclusive growth.
This includes monitoring local content performance, supporting supplier development, and ensuring that our youth and SMEs are not left behind in Uganda’s transformation journey.
I call upon all Ugandans to embrace the spirit of patriotism, innovation, and partnership. Let us build a future where Uganda is not just a destination for investment—but a champion of self-reliance, skills development, and shared prosperity.
Together, we can make local content a national asset.
